The Players Centre For Performing Arts Hires A New CEO

September 18, 2020 – Sarasota

The Players Centre for Performing Arts is thrilled to announce the hiring of WilliamSkaggs as chief executive officer. As The Players moves from their current theatre into a temporary location, and plans to build a new facility in Lakewood Ranch’s Waterside Place, Skaggs is invaluable to the strategic plan in place.

“The Players Centre holds a special place in the heart of this community. This became readily apparent during the search process, and I see it in the energy and talent of staff, volunteers and board of trustees,” says Skaggs. “After 90 years, this community theatre and studio still provides so much value to those that experience it. There is a bright future on the horizon and I’m proud and excited to be a part of it.”

Skaggs’ most recent position was with Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center (SKyPAC) in Bowling Green, Ky. Prior to SKyPAC his career has included work in financial services and 12 years in institutional advancement at Western Kentucky University.

“The Board of Trustees did an extensive nationwide search and found the right person for the CEO position,” says Donna DeFant, chair of The Players Board of Trustees. “We are incredibly excited to have William Skaggs steering our ship.”

Staff at The Players will be happy to talk to any patrons, volunteers and community members about upcoming plans and productions as they unfold. Please call 941.365.2494, or look for news on www.theplayers.org.
