The Food Bank of Manatee, a PLUS program of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee, has been selected to benefit from donations collected during the May 13th “Stamp Out Hunger” event hosted by the United States Postal Service (USPS).  Through this annual USPS event, residents in Manatee County can leave unopened, non-perishable food items in/near their mailbox on Saturday, May 13, 2023, and those items will be donated to local organizations working to feed those in need in our local community.

“This annual event yields thousands of pounds of critically needed food items and as an independent food bank relying 100% on the support of the community, we are so grateful for each and every item donated,” said Maribeth Phillips, President & CEO of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. “We appreciate the spirit in which these items are collected by our dedicated postal workers and will use the donations to feed those in need,” she added. Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee will receive donations collected from residents in Bradenton Beach, Ellenton, Myakka City, Palmetto, and Parrish.

Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee operates four main programs in Manatee County which include: Home-delivered Meals, The Food Bank of Manatee, Daybreak Adult Day Center, and Friendship Dining Center locations.
