Van Wezel Education and Community Relations Department Announces 2023-2024 Masterclass Series

Following the success of the inaugural Masterclass Series, the Van Wezel is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 Masterclass Series. Based on his extensive Broadway career, Van Wezel Director of Education and Community Engagement Justin Gomlak will offer a series of masterclasses in dance, singing, acting, and stage combat.  Each class will offer enriching experiences that connect to the Van Wezel’s Broadway season.

““We want to bring the world of the stage into the lives of our audience members, connecting them to what they’re going to see,” shares Gomlak, “I love the masterclasses. They are a chance for me to share the experiences I’ve had throughout a robust Broadway career with people who are genuinely interested in it and want to learn more about performing.”

The Masterclass Series kicks off with Pretty Woman on Monday, November 27, 2023 and concludes with Shrek The Musical on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The full schedule can be found below.

Each masterclass begins with a physical warmup, then moves to learning or practicing specific skills, culminating with learning choreography. The music will be thematically connected to the featured musical. Classes are held at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in the Education Room.
