Jennifer Bushinger-Ortiz, Development Director at Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s, has been named a Chamberlain Scholar by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation for Philanthropy and will be attending AFP ICON 2023 in New Orleans, LA from April 16-18, 2023.

AFP is the largest association of fundraisers in the world and represents over 31,000 fundraising practitioners across the globe. The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy supports programs and initiatives that help train fundraisers and increase knowledge and awareness of ethical fundraising.

Bushinger-Ortiz, originally from the metropolitan Manhattan area, has an eclectic background with over 15 years in professional theatre in the performing, administrative, and educational arenas. She performed in two national children’s theatre tours, directed Off-Broadway, and wrote/directed two original pieces for the United Nations World Religion Conference and the United Nation/National Global Organization’s International Commission on the Status of Women Summit. Her expertise expanded to marketing and public relations work with Cirque du Soleil, Street Meet Promotions, Big Apple Circus, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. She is a board member of AFP Southwest Florida Chapter serving on its programming and diversity, equity and inclusion committees, graduate of the Inaugural Leadership Class of Venice 2019 and Gulf Coast Leadership Institute Class of 2022.

The Chamberlain Scholarship Program honors Ralph Chamberlain, CFRE, a long-time fundraiser and supporter of AFP. Mr. Chamberlain helped to form one of the organization’s first chapters, the Greater New York Chapter, and served as both chair of the association and the foundation. Because of his long-time support of the Foundation for Philanthropy, the AFP Board of Directors renamed the Conference Scholar Program in 2000 to honor Mr. Chamberlain’s memory and commitment to the fundraising profession.
