Student Scholarships Awarded by Education Foundation of Sarasota County

By  |

The Education Foundation of Sarasota County has presented four Sarasota County graduating seniors from the Class of 2020 with $8,000 in scholarships to help them pursue their postsecondary education.

Through a partnership with Suncoast Schools Credit Union Foundation, the Education Foundation was provided with two $2,000 scholarship awards for high school seniors planning to attend a four-year or two-year college, university, or technical-vocational school in Florida.

This year’s Suncoast Credit Union Scholars for Sarasota County both plan to enter nursing programs. Thanasorn “Beau” Sammacheep, Venice High School, has been accepted into the University of Florida, and Isabel Perine, Booker High School, has been accepted into Florida Southern College.

Two Pine View School Class of 2020 seniors also received $2,000 awards from the Education Foundation, funded by the Retsy Lauer Visual Arts College Student Scholarship. The scholarship is designated for Pine View seniors with: a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average; demonstrated artistic ability, as evidenced by the submission of a sample portfolio; and enrollment in an accredited art school, college, or university the year of high school graduation.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Lindsay Farm, who has been accepted into Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor; and Cara Kaminski, who has been accepted into Brown University as a Visual Arts major with a specialty in painting.

More information about the Education Foundation’s scholarship programs, for both applicants and donors, is available at EdFoundationSRQ.org.
