January 10, 2024 – Sarasota

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation hosted its 7th annual Hospital Gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota on January 6, 2024, with 625 guests in attendance. The event raised over $1.4 million and featured SMH’s Level II Trauma Center, the only trauma center in our area. The evening was hosted by the Healthcare Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

“The Hospital Gala is a terrific and inspirational way to start the new year,” said Healthcare Foundation president Stacey Corley. “Once again our community came together to support Sarasota Memorial and help ensure that SMH can continue to provide world-class healthcare.”

Since opening in 2015, SMH’s expert trauma, emergency and surgical teams have treated well over 34,000 patients. During the night’s mission moment, a severely injured and now recovered trauma patient was reunited with the trauma team who saved his life. He was also joined by the Sarasota County EMS captains who were on duty the night of his accident. The evening also included mission-focused speeches and concluded with dancing to a live performance by The Royals.

“We are so fortunate to live and work in a community that is so deeply committed to Sarasota Memorial,” said Sarasota Memorial Health Care System President and CEO David Verinder. “We are profoundly grateful for our generous supporters, and to the Healthcare Foundation for hosting this amazing event.”
