SCF Business Students Excel at State and National PBL & Leadership Competitions

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) students earned top honors from the National Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Conference and Institute for Leaders in San Antonio, Texas.

Four SCF students competed against students from colleges and universities across the United States during the national event. SCF students brought home the following awards at the conference:

  • Jennifer Dolan won first place in Healthcare Administration and placed third in the category of Future Business Educators.
  • Mark Ingle placed sixth in Programming Concepts.
  • Adrian Aguayo finished sixth in Contemporary Sports Issues.

 

SCF’s participants also competed on teams working to develop business plans and presentations at the PBL Institute for Leaders, winning the following awards:

  • Charles Morris and Ingle were part of the first-place team for best Innovative Product or Service.
  • Dolan and Ingle earned an honorable mention for Changed Management Consulting.

The students earned berths in the national competition by earning high honors at PBL’s State Leadership Conference in Orlando. SCF students collected the following awards while competing against their peers from other Florida colleges and universities:

  • Ingle won first place in Computer Applications, first place in Programming Concepts and fourth place in Computer Concepts.
  • Aguayo earned second place in Contemporary Sports Issues, third place in Sports Management and Marketing and fifth place in Justice Administration.
  • Dolan placed second in Future Business Educators.
  • Bryden Canty placed fourth in Project Management.

SCF faculty who coached the PBL participants in Bradenton and Venice are Marina Cosgrove, Judy Hangartner and Amy Santos.
