Five Murals by Local Artists Coming to Rosemary Square Interactive Exhibit

By  |

Rosemary Square and the Art Impact Initiative present an interactive vertical public art exhibit of five murals inspired by the local arts scene that will develop over five months, beginning in August.

Dr. Mark Kauffman and the development group of Rosemary Square—located in the Rosemary District on Boulevard of the Arts and Central Avenue—teamed up with the volunteers of the Art Impact Initiative to organize and curate an interactive mural exhibit themed around the arts. The inspiration came from Rosemary Square’s vision to “bring arts to Boulevard of the Arts”. Each mural is based on an arts organization housed within the development including the Sarasota Ballet School, Sarasota Opera, Sarasota Contemporary Dance, The Arnold Simonsen Players Studio, and SOLSTICE Planning and Architecture. The exhibit will be showcased on the southern-facing wall along the parking area.

“We’re excited to be adding to the cultural synergy within the Rosemary District,” said Jonathan Parks, architect for Rosemary Square. “Good placemaking is at the heart of stimulating vibrant communities and we hope these murals will spark conversation, contemplation, and creative interaction.” The wall “canvases” will come to life by a diverse artistic ensemble of local artists who were invited to participate. The first mural will go up this month with the last scheduled for completion in December.

The public is invited and encouraged to interact with the art in photographic moments and share them through social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #RosemarySquareSRQ. A full exhibit dedication event is being planned for either late this year or early 2020.
