June 2021—This month, readers shared outdoor scenes that reveal their joy in coastal living and gardening.
Susan DeVictor captured daughter Lucia picking flowers at Hunsader Farms in the early morning, and Lakewood Ranch High School senior Josh Pollard skimboarding at Coquina Beach at sunset.
Maggie, daughter of Jessica and Michael Rogers, enjoys climbing one of the majestic oak trees at Phillippi Estate Park.
Kenny Morales, girlfriend Ashley, and fur baby Valentino love that Bayfront is pet friendly. They also enjoy bike rides around Benderson Park, paddle boarding in Nokomis Beach, and sunset underneath the Ringling Bridge Causeway.

For Ginny Wyatt, coastal living means morning skies over the Sarasota Bayfront, lots of rain at Myakka State Park, and daughter, Susan, dancing under Ringling Bridge.
Sharelle Turner snapped photos of a Sandhill Crane family, complete with babies, that came visiting her yard and driveway.
Ian Harris, 4, enjoyed a Friday afternoon in April at the Ritz Beach Club with Bonus Mom, Asa Thomas.
Padmini Swami hosted an English tea party for friends out on her lanai by the pool. “It was a beautiful spring afternoon. We had scones and cucumber sandwiches and a variety of teas.”
Josh and Jill McGarry are passionate about teaching son Finnegan, age 9, and daughter Isla, age 7, about Florida’s beauty. Once a month the family explores local state parks and historic landmarks to enjoy kayaking, hiking, fishing, and shark tooth hunting. Says Jill, “They learn the importance of connecting with and protecting nature, they develop powers of observation and creativity, and are instilled with a sense of peace and being one with the world—all while having fun!”
Michael and Terri Klauber love to go golfing on Longboat Key.
Mary Maisel loves orchids at Marie Selby Gardens, browsing native plants at Sweet Bay Nursery, and finding visitors in bromeliads in her courtyard garden.
Cathy Reinitz captured beautiful days at The Country Club in Lakewood Ranch and magical sunsets on Casey Key and at Nokomis Beach.
Jennifer Marlow relishes her daughter’s first tarpon catch in the Keys. “I grew up here in Sarasota catching tarpon with my folks in the big tournaments. My father won the first car I had in a tournament. This was her first and she is 43 and mother of 2. I’m so proud of her. It is a thrilling experience so few ever experience.”
Julie Kell captured this scene while boating near Venice in the Intracoastal Waterway. “The pelicans wait in front of Pelican Alley restaurant for the fishing boats to come back and clean the fish. They love to eat the scraps!”
Enjoying tennis with the family on Mother’s Day are Rowland Evans, Alyson Evans, Ikie Evans, Graci McGillicuddy, and Johnny Evans.
