Sarasota Contemporary Dance Announces Summer In-Studio Performances

After a successful 16th Season, SCD is keeping the momentum going during the summer by announcing a full performance schedule for SCD’s In-Studio Performance Series! From May-July, SCD will host 6 total performances at its Home Studio in the Rosemary District, featuring local and nationally acclaimed choreographers as well as its annual “In the Round” Performances, showcasing rising choreographers and their new works set on SCD Summer Intensive participants.

SCD’s three featured professional choreographers this summer are SCD Company Member Sea Lee, Austin-based choreographer Lisa del Rosario, and Miami-based choreographer Melissa Cobblah Gutierrez. These three choreographers will be showcasing a range of new works, from expanding upon pre-existing conceptual choreography to setting never-before-seen original pieces.

Additionally, SCD will host its annual “In the Round” Showcases, featuring rising choreographers locally and nationally who are presenting brand new works in progress on SCD summer intensive participants. The choreographers are given feedback during the performance from audience members using a modified version inspired by the Liz Lerman Critical Response Process (CRP). Circling the entire studio space, the audience will have the opportunity to view the pieces from different perspectives, becoming a part of a unique and immersive visual experience.

Each performance will offer an In-Person and Virtual ticket option.
