Sarasota Conductor to Lead Concert of 60 Musicians at Pine View School

Sarasota-based Strings Con Brio will present “Mr. B.’s Homecoming Concert” at Pine View School.

For one night only on March 30, 2023, at 7:00 PM, Ken Bowermeister will return to Pine View School after 23 years to conduct in the Kenneth Bowermiester Auditorium, named in his honor when he retired in 2000.

Eliana Sirocchi, Strings Con Brio Board Member and Educator in Sarasota County Schools, said the evening would bring back three decades of students and teachers.

“This will be a unique opportunity for students, alumni, and community members to share the stage under the baton of Ken Bowermeister.”

Strings Con Brio is a nonprofit organization that presents five concerts per year. The 60-member string orchestra engages musicians of varying ages and abilities, from student through the professional level.

John Jones, Photographer for Strings Con Brio and Pine View School Alumnus, stated that he is so glad Mr. B is conducting and bringing great music to people all over Sarasota.

“As a former student, I have such immense love and respect for Mr Bowermeister. I know I’m just one of many, many students, across generations, who feel this way about him.”

The concert, presented by Strings Con Brio and hosted by Pine View School, will feature classical and popular music. Orchestra personnel include currently enrolled students and alumni.

Dr. Stephen Covert, the Principal, shared “The music and arts programs at Pine View have always been so strong, and much of the success of the students today rests on the incredible work of teachers like Ken Bowermeister. The quote attributed to Sir Isaac Newton, that ‘if we can see farther, it is because we are standing on the shoulders of giants,’ immediately comes to mind! Mr. Bowermeister is one of those giants, and we are simply thrilled that students, teachers, and alumni are all part of this extraordinary event!”
