December 16, 2020 – Sarasota

Ringling College of Art and Design today announced that the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has awarded Ringling College a $30,500 grant from the John J. Clopine Fund to support student scholarship and community arts engagement.

The Community Foundation grant provides essential underwriting to three Ringling College programs:
1. Art in Action: Visionaries and Voices exhibitions at the Lois and David Stulberg Gallery through the 2020/2021 season. The Stulberg Gallery exhibits enhance student art education and provide cultural enrichment for Sarasota residents of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds, providing the opportunity for meaningful arts experiences and dialogue.

2. Endowed Scholarship Luncheon recognizes donors who have chosen to leave lasting legacies by creating endowed funds that contribute to student scholarships. Student scholarships remain Ringling College’s most critical funding need, as scholarships make the Ringling College educational experience possible for some of the most talented young artists and designers in the world.

3. Janaina Tschäpe exhibition at the Sarasota Art Museum on the Ringling College Museum Campus

is an engaging, multidisciplinary, and interactive exhibition with related public programs that opened on December 13, 2020 and will run until May 2, 2021. The exhibition provides opportunities for the community to gather, learn, be inspired by, and experience the power of art to transform society.

“The arts propel us along the journey of self-discovery as both individuals and a community,” said Roxie Jerde, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. “Ensuring these connections continue to inspire us during a time of great uncertainty is especially important, and we are proud to have a partnership with Ringling College of Art and Design that provides opportunities for learning and understanding through creativity for all ages.”

“We value our long-standing partnership with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and are pleased that they have expanded their support this year to include the Sarasota Art Museum,” said Ringling College of Art and Design President Dr. Larry R. Thompson. “This grant will help us make our amazing galleries and world-class contemporary art museum available to a broader audience, providing opportunities for virtual art engagement and education to those who might not otherwise be able to access them.”
