Responding in Our Region: An Update from Gulf Coast Community Foundation

By  |

Responding Rapidly and Strategically
Gulf Coast partnered with Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation to launch  COVID-19 Response Initiative just over a week ago. Their focus is relieving and strengthening our region’s lead health and safety organizations, to ensure they can meet the wave of need as community members suffer the devastating impacts of this pandemic.

Transforming Together
The Foundation  launched the initiative with a total of $1.5 million committed, including a $500,000 challenge gift from Barancik Foundation. Dozens of other generous donors have joined and that initial challenge is almost met.

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation also has directed grants through this initiative to several of our nonprofit partners already.

Staying Safe and Well
Gulf Coast has shifted to mostly remote operations. Visit our COVID-19 updates page to learn how to best contact it’s staff for whatever you may need.

For donors who are able, now is a time to do more. Donors and their professional advisors may contact the Philanthropy team any time for help making gifts—whether through our initiative or directly to your favorite charities.

The foundation’s Community Investment team, meanwhile, is collaborating with nonprofit partners, government agencies, and private-sector business to fortify our health and social safety nets. Regional nonprofits seeking funding for COVID-19 related issues may email the team directly, as Gulf Coast and Barancik Foundation staff work together to identify the priority needs we will address through our initiative
