Purple Day Spotlights Epilepsy Awareness & Education
March 26, 2021 – Sarasota
March 26th is Purple Day, an internationally recognized day devoted to Epilepsy Awareness and Education. In recognition of Purple Day, JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation donated more than 300 masks supplied by 4Imprint to the staff and students at Oak Park School in Sarasota, FL.
“Awareness and education are the first steps to decreasing the isolation that people with Epilepsy experience once they are diagnosed with this seizure disorder. One in 26 people will have a seizure during their lifetime. Because Epilepsy is the fourth most common neurological disorder, education is key,” stated Andria Bilan, CEO of JoshProvides. “We selected Oak Park School for this donation of masks because several families attending this Sarasota County school who have been diagnosed with seizures have turned to JoshProvides for help and assistance,” added Sandi Chapnick, Co-Founder. “We are so grateful for this donation and support of our students and staff,” remarked Nicole Meo, assistant principal of Oak Park School.
Parent Laura Dansky and student Collin Robinson – who participate in the JoshProvides Epilepsy Support Group attended the mask presentation with Sandi Chapnick, co-founder and Andria Bilan, CEO. “JoshProvides has been a lifeline for our family,” noted Laura. “We have received seizure alert devices and help with anti-seizure medication. Most importantly, we are connected with other families and local resources that can help us cope with Collin’s seizures.”
