Meet Artist: Nancy Guth

By  |

September 2021—For nearly 7 years, Nancy Guth has photographed community members and local events for Sarasota Scene magazine. And when she’s not behind the lens, her passion is creating unique mixed media art.

Nancy fell in love with the perspective of drone photography and wanted to find a way to represent beach scenes in her art. Using acrylic paints, pigment paste, dyes, and miniature figures of less than one inch, she took to using her collection of photos as inspiration for whimsical, dimensional assemblages. She has captured horses and riders walking through the surf, children playing along the shoreline, dogs frolicking in the shallow waters, and people in beach chairs under umbrellas and palm trees.

Looking at the beach from a couple hundred feet overhead, one sees the beauty and movement of water and waves. Guth ‘s seaside panoramas are full of detail, with figures that make each piece come to life.

Nancy’s work can be found at State of The Arts Gallery on State Street in downtown Sarasota. Want something uniquely yours? Commissions are accepted. NancyGuth.com
