The Consortium of Florida Education Foundations recently awarded the Education Foundation of Sarasota County $75,475.85 in matching funds through the School District Education Foundation Matching Grant Program.

The funds support the expansion of the Education Foundation’s College, Career, and Life Readiness Initiative designed to graduate young adults with a plan and purpose for their lives after high school.

The state has identified that the fastest growing jobs are those that require education beyond high school and has set a goal of 60% of working-age Floridians to have a high-value postsecondary certificate, degree or training by 2030.

The Education Foundation is committed to helping achieve this goal through the College, Career, and Life Readiness housed at its four Student Success Centers—three on high school campuses and a recently opened autonomous center, LaunchPad4U, that is available to students, teachers and families outside usual school campus hours.

Since 2000, the Consortium has employed more than $114 million in combined private and state dollars for local projects that serve low-performing students and literacy initiatives, encourage STEM and career/technical education, improve teaching quality, and/or increase graduation rates.
