Nautilus Homes, the esteemed luxury builder headquartered in Sarasota, has left an indelible mark on the architectural landscape of the region. Recently, the company’s expertise has been showcased through its involvement in four of the iconic residences featured in “Moderns That Matter: The Sarasota 100” list, a new initiative organized by Architecture Sarasota. These landmarks epitomize the architectural character and unique identity of Sarasota, contributing significantly to the city’s cultural and historical tapestry. Nautilus Homes played a significant part in building or being selected to manage historic renovation of the private residences, including a historic bungalow in Burns Court (full interior and exterior renovation); the Pavilion House by William Rupp (full interior renovation and hardscape); Siesta Key’s Sarasota Modern (new build); and The Courtyard House by Jack West (full interior and exterior renovation and hardscape).

According to Morris (Marty) Hylton III, the president of Architecture Sarasota, the “Moderns That Matter” initiative “asked residents and those who care about Sarasota to

reflect on the community’s past and consider its future. The decisions we make today— about what to preserve and adapt and what to develop and build—will resonate for generations to come. A representation of 100 years of architectural and cultural heritage largely chosen by the public, the Sarasota 100 will serve as priorities, helping focus the work and actions of Architecture Sarasota.”

Ryan Perrone, the co-founder and president of Nautilus Homes, and vice-president of Architecture Sarasota, expressed his privilege to have participated in these projects.

“As a builder deeply rooted in Sarasota’s architectural legacy, Nautilus Homes is honored to have contributed to the fabric of our region through our involvement in these iconic residences,” says Perrone.

“We recognize the privilege and responsibility we hold in shaping the landscape and character of Sarasota. It’s a role we don’t take lightly. In the early days of Nautilus Homes, I was presented with a lucrative job offer that didn’t align with our vision for Sarasota’s architectural identity. I made the decision to turn it down, and that choice has been paramount in our commitment to building with integrity. Each project we undertake is a testament to our dedication to preserving and enhancing Sarasota’s unique charm and heritage.”
