April 14, 2021 – Sarasota

The Education Foundation of Sarasota County is announcing a “Finish Strong Challenge” invitation that gives donors an opportunity to have their donations matched 1:1 up to $100,000 until midnight on April 15.

“The pandemic has impacted the lives of all of us this past year, especially our students and teachers,” said Jennifer Vigne, Education Foundation president and CEO,

“There is light at the end of the tunnel, but the effects will be felt for some time to come, and our work is not done. We are asking the community to participate in a matching campaign that will help us finish the school year from a position of strength and be able to continue supporting our students and teachers as they respond to COVID,” Vigne said.

Vigne cited several innovations and interventions the Education Foundation devised in the past year in responding quickly to continue providing services during the COVID pandemic. The new community resource center, LaunchPad4U, was included.

Also mentioned were classroom grants and teacher support affecting more than 35,000 students; experiential, hands-on learning project at an elementary school; virtual workshops for teachers at the Teacher Leadership Center; and more.

Contributions from $5 to $500 will be matched 1:1 through the generosity of the Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust. Donations higher than $500 also will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000, by generous donors.

Supporters can visit EdFoundationSRQ.org/Finish-Strong to learn more about how donations support students, families, and teachers, and to follow links to donate.
