The Southside School Foundation for the Arts (SSFA) extends its heartfelt gratitude to the community following the resounding success of its second annual Cooking for the Arts event, held on March 28, 2024, at Michael’s On East.

Under the distinguished chairmanship of Molly and Ethan Biter and Sepi and Ryan Ackerman, the event brought together nearly 250 passionate supporters of arts education. Attendees immersed themselves in a delightful culinary journey, crafting four delectable courses alongside local celebrity chefs Phil Mancini and Jamil Pineda.

The evening sparkled with excitement as guests participated in a lively live auction, which featured exclusive items such as tickets to an upcoming Usher Concert in Miami paired with a luxurious stay at the SLS Brickell hotel.

Dressed in soft colors to reflect the theme of Cloud 9, attendees contributed to a whimsical and surreal atmosphere, enhancing the spirit of camaraderie and creativity.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the unwavering support of the community, SSFA is thrilled to announce that the event raised an impressive $80,000. These funds will directly benefit Southside Elementary’s diverse array of arts programs, including the enhancement of the dance and performing arts curriculum, support for the annual theater production, and various arts and cultural engagements for students.

Lindsay Howell, President of SSFA, expressed her gratitude, stating, “The Cooking for the Arts event embodies the essence of community and creativity that defines SSFA’s mission. Witnessing the collective effort of our supporters to nurture artistic endeavors for the benefit of Southside Elementary students is truly inspiring.”

Due to overwhelming demand, the event was sold out, underscoring the enthusiastic support for arts education in our community.
