CenterPlace Health Expands with Mobile Health and Vaccination

By  |

December 17, 2021 – Sarasota

CenterPlace Health is expanding its services through the use of mobile health and vaccination clinics. The mobile vans and the associated personnel will deliver healthcare services across Sarasota county to provide additional support to the Shots in Arms Initiative.

The mobile clinic’s integration will expand healthcare access to underserved communities living at or below the poverty level. The expansion, funded through a donation from Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, will also be used to hire an additional community health worker, a patient service representative and a registered nurse.

The mobile health clinic vans will be used by the Shots in Arms Coalition and CenterPlace Health to target Sarasota residents and communities that need healthcare services and vaccinations. The specific populations include communities of color, the homeless, residents of rural areas, and individuals between ages 18-24 years old.

In addition to delivering vaccinations and healthcare services, the mobile vans will also enable CenterPlace Health to provide community outreach and education to the same underserved communities they are delivering care to, with a greater conveyance. Currently, the community outreach team relies on social media and local events to educate the public on CenterPlace Health’s services. The mobile clinics will immediately impact the community with improved and convenient access to healthcare services and information from CenterPlace Health staff.

“We want to combat the COVID-19 pandemic through accessibility and education. The effective way to do that is by bringing these mobile clinics directly into the neighborhoods and shelters of our community. We welcome all questions and concerns regarding the COVID-19 vaccine with open arms,” says Dr. Lisa Gonzalez-Abello, Chief Medical Officer of CenterPlace Health.

The mobile health and vaccine clinics will be fully operational and staffed for one year with the funding received. After one year of operation, the mobile clinics will continue to operate as a healthcare service.
