Boca Royale Cares Fund Awards Grants to Nine Local Charities

The Boca Royale Cares Fund was established as a donor advised fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation in December 2018. The purpose of the fund is to secure donations from Boca Royale Golf & Country Club residents and allocate these funds to charities serving the greater Englewood community. This first funding cycle, 20 organizations submitted a request and 9 charities were selected.

A total of $19,331 was allocated to the following organizations at an awards ceremony held at Boca Royale Golf & Country Club on September 20th:

o Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast: $2,800

§ Support Thanksgiving meal program for 28 local Englewood families

o Charlotte County Homeless Coalition: $3,700

§ Establish children’s playroom at the emergency shelter

o Englewood Community Care Clinic: $2,500

§ Purchase glucose test strips for Diabetes & Hypertension program

o Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida: $700

§ Scholarship funds for girls enrolled in Englewood troops at Vineland Elementary School & Redeemer Lutheran Church

o ITN Suncoast: $1,500

§ Provide rides to 150 senior residents of Englewood through Roads Scholar program

o Jesus Loves You Ministry: $2,400

§ Support homeless veterans program

o Manasota SOLVE Maternity Homes: $1,500

§ Construct patio and facility improvements at Englewood maternity home

o Suncoast Humane Society: $2,500

§ Support senior pet adoption program

o Tidewell Hospice: $2,331

§ Purchase 2 Flex steel Power Lift Recliners for Englewood Hospice House

Boca Royale Cares Fund Committee members are: John Catterson, President; Bruce Vogt, Vice President; Craig Casto, Treasurer; David Ballantyne, Andria Bilan, Jane Kopper-Woodward, Michele Petry, Kristine Watts and Denise Whitty.
