Women’s Resource Center Presents Divorce 101

The Women’s Resource Center presents Divorce 101, a free, five-part workshop series that provides a comprehensive understanding of the divorce process. It is divided into five sessions, each dedicated to a specific topic. The sessions will delve into the emotional aspects of divorce, the laws governing divorce in Florida, ways to assert your financial rights, dealing with children and the family home during divorce, and house and forensic accounting. The series launches on Wednesday, September 13, 6-7:30 p.m., with “Understanding and Conquering the Emotions of Divorce” withKim Boyd, a board-certified divorce coach. The following sessions are: “Legal Considerations” withChris Florand, a certified family and civil court mediator (September 20, 6-7:30 p.m.); “Parenting Through Divorce” with Chris Florand and Kim Boyd (September 27, 6-7:30 p.m.); “Family Home/Forensic Accounting” with Amanda Reichert, CDRE, a certified divorce real estate expert, and Susan Keeton, CPA, PA, CFE, a certified divorce financial analyst and CPA (October 4, 6-7:30 p.m.);and “Financial Decisions” withDr. Laura Mattia, PH.D., MBA, CFP, a financial advisor, educator, and author (October 11, 6-7:30 p.m.) This in-person series is at the Women’s Resource Center Sarasota, 340 S Tuttle Ave, Sarasota. Understanding And Conquering The Emotions Of Divorce: September 13, 6-7:30 p.m.  Kim Boyd, a board-certified divorce coach, will review and discuss conflict resolution, navigating stress. Empathy, managing expectations, setting boundaries and decision-making.

Legal Considerations: September 20, 6-7:30 p.m.: Chris Florand, a certified family and civil court mediator, will provide an overview of Florida divorce law and explore ways to approach divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, health insurance, attorney fees, financial requirements and considerations, child support and more.

Parenting Through Divorce: September 27, 6-7:30 p.m.: Chris Florand and Kim Boyd will discuss way ways to protect children from the changes brought on by divorce, so they are less traumatized. They will also help participants understand the legalities of the parenting plan, time sharing, and child support.

Family Home/Forensic Accounting: October 4, 6-7:30 p.m.: Amanda Reichert, CDRE, a certified divorce real estate expert, and Susan Keeton, CPA, PA, CFE, a certified divorce financial analyst and accountant, will review things to consider when selling the family home and explain what forensic accounting is and how it may be beneficial during divorce.

Financial Decisions: October 11, 6-7:30 p.m.: Laura Mattia, PH.D., MBA, CFP, a financial advisor, educator and author, will review how grief affects financial decisions, marital property, division of assets and review 10 steps to reclaim financial power.
