USF Sarasota-Manatee Hosting Several Summer Camps

USF Sarasota-Manatee this summer will host several summer camps programs open to the the surrounding community:

  • Summer Reading Program, June 3-July 3. Summer Reading Skills Programs are offered by University of South Florida’s Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education, and designed and taught by instructors from the Institute of Reading Development. These single-grade programs teach key reading skills, from phonics and sight words for younger children to comprehension, reading speed, and textbook strategies for older kids, and everything in between.   • Unidos Now 2024-25 Future Leaders Academy, June 11-July 11: Unidos Now’s Future Leaders Academy gives middle-school students and their parents with the tools, resources, and skills to successfully transition to high school. Through interactive workshops, activities, and college tours, students and their parents learn about the importance of taking rigorous classes in high school, being involved in extracurricular activities, taking on leadership positions, and volunteering in the community. Contact Unidos Now for more information, including how to register.
  • Judy Genshaft Honors College Mock Trial Summer Camp, July 15-19: The Summer Honors Institute: Mock Trial Intensive is a mock trial training program hosted by USF’s Judy Genshaft Honors College and led by a national award-winning mock trial coach. Collegiate mock trail competitors and current law students will support students as they learn the step-by-step process of court proceedings and will gain knowledge and experience of advocacy, critical thinking, creative thinking, argument construction, basic understanding of the law as it relates to the courtroom, courtroom decorum, logic, reason, rhetoric and public speaking.
