Turning Points Is in Need of Warm Coats

There is an extreme need for coats for residents of Manatee County for the upcoming cold months. Turning Points has partnered with the national nonprofit organization, One Warm Coat, and is asking area residents to help collect new or gently used coats (hats, gloves and scarves) for men, women, and children from now until November 23, 2022. 

“We expect to serve hundreds of clients this winter, many of whom have been affected by the economic crisis created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We need the support of our local community so that we can provide coats to the people we serve,” said Cheryl Hedger who is the Director of Volunteer Services at Turning Points. Coat drives can be as short as a few days or longer as needed. Coats for children are especially needed. All coats should be dropped off at the Turning Points Donation Center, 705 17^th Avenue West, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am until 4:00 pm. Turning Points requests that large donations be in plastic bags with the name and contact information of the donor, plus the number of coats, taped to the bag. Turning Points is not able to do pick up of coats.

Last year, Turning Points collected more than 1,500 coats that were distributed to children and adults in Manatee County. Turning Points needs the community’s help and support to keep residents warm this winter.
