Toy and Essential Item Collection for Survivors of Child Abuse

December 6, 2024 | Sarasota

The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) is gathering toys and supplies to distribute over the holidays. The goodies will go directly to children who are receiving child abuse intervention and treatment services through the organization.

CPC staff report that they take great strides to make the holiday season special for their clients, many of whom struggle this time of year. “It’s difficult to work through the trauma that follows child abuse while surrounded by a carefree world of cheer and merriment.” Each December, CPC brings joy to these children and their families by passing out goodies that encourage bonding, normalcy, self-care, and fun “while bringing laughter and comfort during a difficult time, and that is a truly wonderful thing!”

In addition to toys and goods for children up to 18 years of age, the Child Protection Center is also collecting essential items such as diapers, hygiene products, and newborn supplies.

CPC requests that all toys be new and unwrapped. Items can be dropped off or mailed to the Sarasota office at 720 S. Orange Ave in Sarasota. The office is open Mondays through Fridays 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. In order for staff and volunteers to have time to organize gift bags, do last minute shopping for needed items, and arrange pick-ups with their clients, they encourage items to be dropped off as early in December as possible.

The Child Protection Center’s (CPC) mission is the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse, as the organization envisions a community where children are safe from abuse and free to thrive. For over 44 years, CPC has been serving Sarasota and DeSoto Counties in the State of Florida and is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance.
