Tidewell Foundation received two grants from local philanthropic groups, Donors of Distinction and Sisterhood for Good, in support of Tidewell Hospice’s Blue Butterfly grief support program for children. Donors of Distinction awarded a $5,000 grant and Sisterhood for Good awarded a $3,000 grant to support grief counseling and support groups for children and teenagers in Sarasota.
Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly offers a safe and caring environment for children and caregivers. The program provides resources, education, and group counseling in developmentally appropriate ways. Groups are facilitated by mental health professionals and trained volunteers. The facilitators use evidence-based interventions to support children and families on their grief journey. It is open to all children and teens who have lost someone significant in their lives.
Made up of an impressive list of local, influential individuals who share a passion for making a difference, Donors of Distinction works diligently throughout the year to raise money to be granted back to deserving local not-for-profit organizations. Sisterhood for Good was established in 2011 to unite women who share common philanthropic goals.
“We thank Donors of Distinction and Sisterhood for Good for their generosity and kindness,” said Debbie Mason, President of Tidewell Foundation. “Children who receive ongoing support, therapeutic interventions, and peer-to-peer interactions through Blue Butterfly graduate the program with the ability to discuss and identify their feelings, confidently speak about their grief, and know that they are not alone. Grants like these ensure that this program is available at no charge to participants.”
All of Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly grief groups are free of charge to participants thanks to generous support from donors to the Tidewell Foundation. To learn more about Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly Program or to make a donation, visit tidewellfoundation.org/impact-areas/
