Hospice patients throughout Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties will have fresh linens thanks to the generosity of people across Southwest Florida. The Tidewell Foundation held its 4th annual Linens and Love drive and had their largest haul yet with 38 drop-off locations. Patients who receive hospice care at home often do not have XL twin sheets to fit a hospital bed. Many patients in need also require towels, blankets, pillows and other items for their care and comfort. The donation of any of these linens makes a profound difference in the lives of Tidewell patients. In partnership with Dignity Memorial, which hosted several drop-off areas, Tidewell collected all of the donated items this week and will begin distributing them to areas in the most need.
“The drive is really special to all of our special. We learn from our clinical teams as they went out to visit with them that some didn’t have the linens they needed, the proper bedding. Some of them were sleeping without any type of linens on their beds, so now as clinical workers go in and meet with the patients, they are able to bring linens with them and provide them free of charge.”
