From French cinematographers, to Indian HIV Matchmakers, and Rugby Players from Papua New Guinea, this year’s Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival (TWE) shares fabulous stories from around the globe and opens up new worlds for viewers.
Each year, Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival (TWE) presents the very best in new, groundbreaking films about brave, heroic women produced by established and emerging filmmakers from around the world. TWE raises funding for the United States National Committee for UN Women, the world’s champion for gender equality and women’s empowerment. *
TWE: Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, at Hollywood 11 Cinemas, 1993 Main St., Sarasota.
They have chosen 22 films (15 shorts and seven features) from more than 400 worldwide submissions. Tickets and a complete schedule of films will be available at www.throughwomenseyes.com. What they love about this year’s films is that they blow open the idea that women have to fit into a certain constraining standard or cultural voice. The women in the festival’s film line up find their voices and bravely go after their personal missions with grit and determination.
