The Venice Symphony Returns for its 48th Season

After selling out the 2019-20 season, The Venice Symphony returns to The Venice Performing Arts Center, November 19-20 with Brahms and the Boys.  Music Director Troy Quinn will lead the orchestra featuring concertmaster Marcus Ratzenboeck and The Venice Symphony debut of Associate Concertmaster Jessica Hung. The 2021-22 season runs from November through May and will include every concert programmed by Quinn, postponed from 2020-21. Season sponsors are Gulf Coast Community Foundation and the Sarasota County Tourist Development Tax. 

Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor has been called a “visionary masterpiece” with “the deepest music in the 19th century” and is ranked sixth of all classic symphonies by the BBC.  The program will showcase Thomas Hooten, principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, on Haydn’s tour-de-force Trumpet Concerto in E-Flat Major. “Tom Hooten is one of the leading orchestral trumpet players of our day,” said Troy Quinn. “His special relationship with living composers such as John Williams, combined with his gorgeous tone and impeccable technique, make him a gifted artist one has to see live and in person.” Rounding out the concert are Smetana’s buoyant overture from The Battered Bride and the rhapsodic classic “God Only Knows” by Brian Wilson and Tony Asher. This concert is sponsored by Village on the Isle.

The Symphony will offer its Free Pre-Concert Talks at 6:30 pm before evening concerts and 2:30 pm before afternoon concerts. These insightful and entertaining programs are moderated by Joseph Caulkins and featuring Maestro Quinn and guest artists, are sponsored by FourThought Private Wealth.

Online sales are scheduled to begin November 2^nd at thevenicesymphony.org. Student tickets are always half-price and discounts are available to Florida teachers and groups of 10 or more.
