January 15, 2021 – Sarasota
On February 5, 2021, The Venice Symphony will premiere the third in a series of four free virtual concerts. Brilliant Brass and Percussion features Music Director/Conductor Troy Quinn leading Venice Symphony musicians in a program that includes works by Aaron Copland, John Williams, Giovanni Gabrieli and more. The concert will premiere on February 5 and will continue to be available free on demand after that date.
“This concert reflects on the heroic and patriotic aspects of humanity, represented by brilliant brass and percussion fanfares,” said Quinn. “Copland’s timeless “Fanfare for the Common Man” and John Willams’ “Quidditch Fanfare” from Harry Potter are sure to stir the soul.”
These 30-minute concerts feature smaller ensembles performing a variety of classical and contemporary music recorded at the Symphony’s home venue, the Venice Performing Arts Center. The first two concerts, Strings Unhinged and Safe at Home for the Holidays are available to view at thevenicesymphony.org and on The Venice Symphony’s YouTube channel. The series is sponsored by Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
Christine Kasten, President/CEO of The Venice Symphony, said “We are thrilled by the response to our virtual concerts, which have been viewed nearly 10,000 times. While we cannot be in the concert hall, it is uplifting to know that the work of our talented orchestra is reaching our patrons and so many new people. We are grateful to Gulf Coast Community Foundation for their support, allowing us to offer these concerts free to the public.”
All subscribers to The Venice Symphony’s email will receive a link to view the concert. For more information or to sign up for email updates, visit thevenicesymphony.org or call 941-207-8822.
