The Venice Symphony Announces Three Free Online Video Series
The Venice Symphony invites everyone to enjoy three new free online video series featuring Music Director Troy Quinn, The Venice Symphony musicians and local educators.
“Behind the Baton” is a monthly series of video interviews with Music Director Troy Quinn from his home in California. The series is moderated and produced by Tim Ferguson, Director of Education for The Venice Symphony and will include a Maestro Mailbag feature where viewers can ask Quinn questions.
“Meet the Musicians” is a twice-monthly series focusing on individual members of The Venice Symphony orchestra at home. The musicians will discuss their careers, favorite composers, background and influences. They will also play a bit of their favorite music and pieces from The Venice Symphony’s upcoming season. Behind the Baton and Meet the Musicians are available on The Venice Symphony’s YouTube Channel and at thevenicesymphony.org.
“Education Spotlight” offers free online music education for all ages. The series features musicians from The Venice Symphony and local educators and will address a variety of topics from music production to joining band, to activities that will get younger children away from the screen and
moving to the music. There is a new episode every Friday in June and July. The program is sponsored by donations to the May 2020 Giving Challenge and available on The Venice Symphony’s Music Education YouTube channel and at thevenicesymphony.org.
“We hope that everyone will take advantage of these free online programs,” said Christine Kasten, President/CEO of The Venice Symphony. “Education is a primary focus of our mission and the Education Spotlight series offers children of all ages, and even adults, the opportunity to stay engaged with music all summer. Behind the Baton and Meet the Musicians are a way for us to connect with supporters and fans of The Venice Symphony all over the Country and provide a behind the scenes look at our orchestra, before we are all back in the concert hall together.”
