The Sarasota Ballet announced an Arts Appreciation grant award from Gulf Coast Community Foundation in support of the Company’s 2019 – 2020 Season, which features six Company Premieres, including Sir Frederick Ashton’s full-length adaptation of the iconic romantic classic, Romeo & Juliet. “We are truly grateful for the vital support that the Gulf Coast Community Foundation provides our Company,” states Iain Webb, Director of The Sarasota Ballet. “This grant not only enables us to bring world renowned ballets to the Sarasota stage, but also impacts our far-reaching education and outreach programs that provide thousands of members of the Sarasota and Manatee community access to the arts.”

Joseph Volpe, Executive Director of The Sarasota Ballet, adds “Gulf Coast Community Foundation, through their continued generosity and advocacy, serves as a champion for the arts of Sarasota and the Gulf Coast of Florida. Benevolence such as theirs is critical in enabling our efforts to impact our community and bring first-class ballet to the stage. I am personally greatly appreciative of Gulf Coast Community’s part in providing the resources our Company needs to achieve new heights.”

The 2019-2020 Season opened with Graziano, Retrospective, a triple bill of ballets by Resident Choreographer and Principal Dancer Ricardo Graziano to sold-out houses and delighted audience members. In addition to Ashton’s Romeo & Juliet, audiences can look forward to the Company Premieres of George Balanchine’s Western Symphony, Paul Taylor’s Brandenburgs, Jerome Robbins’ In the Night, Sir Frederick Ashton’s Dante Sonata, and David Bintley’s The Spider’s Feast, along with many returning favorites.
