The Salvation Army Expands Footprint in Sarasota County to Better Meet Needs

By  |

The Salvation Army has served residents of Sarasota County since 1927. North Port is now in the middle of unprecedented growth, bringing with it a sharp increase in the need for social services. “With the growth of North Port, The Salvation Army must also grow to better serve our community” stated Major Charles Whiten, Area Commander.

Through the generosity of our donors and with the support of our community, The Salvation Army has purchased a 12-acre property in North Port. This property, located at 14600 Tamiami Trail, will allow our current North Port social services and food pantry to expand and it will provide future ministry opportunities in North Port. Lt. Colonel Kenneth Luyk, Salvation Army Florida Divisional Commander commented “The Florida Division is pleased to embark on this important next step and to prepare The Salvation Army to be able to best serve the growing community of North Port.”
