The Ringling Launches Museum From Home

By  |
The Ringling has been busy this week transitioning to the online world. You can meet their education department, listen to an Art Chat with a nurse, and go on a Bayfront Gardens Tour to meet the wildlife that call The Ringling home. And you can now find all of the ways to Museum From Home in one place on it’s website: ringling.org/MuseumFromHome

Head of Education Laura Steefel-Moore joins Sarasota nurse Dan Brooks for an Art Chat about the painting “Act of Mercy: Giving Drink to the Thirsty” by Bernardo Strozzi (Italian, 1581-1644) and what it’s like to work through the coronavirus as a healthcare professional.

Art Chats are short conversations about artworks between a museum educator and someone working outside the museum field. The artworks are selected from The Ringling Collection by the educator and tailored to the specific guest. Do you know someone who you want to see in an Art Chat? Email education@ringling.org.

Take a garden tour every Friday with Kai Sacco, Horticulturist of The Mable Ringling Rose Garden on The Ringling Instagram and Facebook stories. On today’s tour Kai is sharing about some of the plants and pollinators of The Secret Garden.

In his last tour, Kai shared some of the wildlife that call the museum home.

Meet the Education Team while they demonstrate an art making project using materials that can be found at home.

Visit ringling.org/learnfromhome to find art making projects kids can do at home, lesson plans for teachers, and other activities for students to Learn From Home with The Ringling.

The popular ROAR! program will be presented virtually! Designed for early learners, read along with the video and then find an art making project inspired by the book linked in the video description, or posted on ringling.org/learnfrom home

Join The Ringling Family Programs Facebook Group where they will be posting fun, educational, and creative projects every week including a new ROAR! Read Along and activity every Thursday.

Finally, discover all of the artworks, furnishings, objects, and circus posters, photographs, and ephemera in The Ringling Collection online using eMuseum!

Pro tip: Using the Advanced Search feature, you can filter your search results to only those with “Image Available” – adding an image to each record is an ongoing project, as there are thousands of records!
