August 23, 2023 – Sarasota

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art (The Ringling) will kick off the 2023-24 cultural season on October 20, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. with the White Hot Fête party and performances in the Museum of Art Courtyard. The event will feature Yaite Ramos Rodriguez, the singer, flautist and percussionist whose stage name is La Dame Blanche and DJ Moses Belanger of Montreal.

La Dame Blanche, who resides in Paris, France, is known as a neo-Latin vocal sensation. Her expansive mix of hip-hop, female empowerment, and dancehall delivers a powerful sound that fuses her Cuban musical ancestry with bold innovation. Born and raised in Cuba, she is the daughter of Jesús “Aguaje” Ramos, the artistic director of the Buena Vista Social Club orchestra. Her music blends Latin, urban, cumbia and hip-hop influences, blurring genres to create powerful performances that electrify audiences all over the world.

“A performance by La Dame Blanche is the perfect way to celebrate the start of our electrifying 2023-24 performance series,” says Elizabeth Doud, Currie-Kohlmann Curator of Performance at The Ringling. “Besides her unique talents as a musician and vocalist, her hybrid and stylish identity as a Latina and a Parisian sets the stage for this year’s robust lineup of global time-based art that is as powerful as it is beautiful and unexpected.”

Guests are invited to wear all-white in the spirit of white party revelry and traditions for a full night that celebrates The Ringling’s cultural season of exhibitions and worldclass programs, as well as the upcoming Art of Performance season.  La Dame Blanche heralds a lineup of shows by twelve artist companies that share a recurrent theme of artistic voices from Latin America and the Caribbean while also weaving together works of various disciplines from the Francophone world and Florida-based artists.

The Art of Performance White Hot Fete with La Dame Blanche kickoff event will open and close with funk and electronic groove sets by DJ Moses Belanger and will take place entirely outdoors, weather permitting. Guests are encouraged to dress in all-white attire. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.  General admission tickets are $35 and $31.50 for museum members and include the pre- and post-show DJ sets and La Dame Blanche’s performance, with food and beverage available for purchase. VIP tickets are $125 and include priority entrance to the venue at 7 p.m., an open bar and food, VIP parking area, and special seating in the Courtyard.
