The Players Centre Receives Grant From The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation
October 2 – Sarasota
The Players Centre for Performing Arts is honored to receive a $22,000 grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation to purchase new, much-needed equipment.
Through the support of the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation grant, The Players was able to upgrade their stage lighting equipment as well as operational and administrative technology. New energy efficient LED stage lights provide flexible illumination and are portable for offsite performances and the new performance space. The new computer equipment enabled The Players Centre to replace outdated hardware, bringing all staff workstations current with Microsoft supported operating systems and Windows security. Despite the closure of the theatre due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two ticket printing systems were purchased knowing that the need for them still exists. The plan to move administrative offices to The Players Studio and to the transitional performance space for productions, includes the necessity to have ticket printing capabilities for both locations. Through the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation grant, The Players now has this ability.
“The grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation to support the upgrades in lighting and operational technology comes at a very opportune time for the theatre. As The Players complies to restrictions in place for safety during the COVID-19 crisis, having these integral tools in place has allowed us to adapt to the current situation,” says Advancement Director Morgan Gerhart. “Without the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation funding, The Players would be at a distinct disadvantage. Instead, we have been leaders in virtual performances, education and engagement online.”
