Women On The Scene
Sweet Sparkman
Sweet Sparkman is an architecture and interiors firm that focuses on community-oriented projects. They believe that the key to excellent design is carefully analyzing all aspects affecting a project’s development, including financial, physical, social, and environmental factors. They value projects based on their significance to the owner, community, and environment rather than their size. Their approach involves collaborative planning and design processes that aim to identify problems and create effective solutions to meet each client’s goals.
The company was established in 2002 and has steadily grown to about 50 employees, 20 of which are women. There are three women established in leadership roles: Hannah Boehmer, AIA – Director of Design, Lissette Callejas – Director of Marketing, and Dina Berg – Director of Administration.
Hannah has been with Sweet Sparkman for over 10 years. As Director of Design and a licensed architect, she loves that every project, site, and client is unique. Her favorite projects are ones that utilize an existing structure. She is most proud of the residential work done that revitalizes existing homes, along with her role in redesigning the Fly Loft for Venice Theatre which was damaged by Hurricane Ian.
“The quality of the design work is the main reason I’ve been here this long, but the colleagues and clients are a close second,” explained Hannah. “We value doing good work with good people, and I appreciate that intent within a design practice.”
Lissette joined the firm six years ago. After receiving an interior design degree from the Ringling College of Art + Design and freelancing for seven years, she found she was drawn to the business and marketing side of the industry. Her design background and knowledge of the industry have informed and influenced her approach to marketing.
“My favorite part of my role is collaborating with our design team to tell the story of our firm, share how our projects impact our community, and highlight what makes us unique,” said Lissette. “I absolutely love working with the entire team here. We are truly aligned and supportive of one another.”
Dina has been with the company for three years and her primary role is to support the team in an office management/administrative capacity so they can focus on architecture and design. She loves seeing the creativity of the architects and designers while being part of a supportive team with a positive office culture.
