Suriya Khong is 1 of 5 National Finalists for the YDP MVP Award

In celebration of 80 years of Batman, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has partnered with DC to recognize the hard work of staff in Clubs across the country with the Youth Development Professional (YPD) MVP Award. Suriya Khong, Director of Teen Outreach at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County, is one of five finalists across the country eligible for the award. Selected through a public vote, the winning staff member will receive $10,000 for their Club.

Since joining our team in 2017, Suriya has led and built multifaceted programs that has elevated our entire slate of services for middle and high school students. Key programs that Suriya manages are SRQVolunteen, STAR (Students Taking Active Roles) Leadership Training, the Tom & Debbie Shapiro Career Resource Center, the Perlman Price Young Entrepreneurs program and the College & Career Planning program. Suriya’s most recent undertaking was creating, planning and executing the first ever Cultural Immersion Trip where eight teens packed their bags and flew to Panama City, Panama, to spend nine days experiencing the country’s culture and volunteering at a youth-serving organization.
