Submissions are now being accepted for Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ 43rd Annual Juried Photographic Exhibition.
Photographers of all ages and skill levels are invited to enter digital photos taken within the past year at either of Selby Gardens’ two campuses. Submissions, which must be entered in one of five categories, will be accepted online through noon on Monday, August 14. The list of entry categories, registration requirements, and a link to the online submission portal can be found at selby.org.
After the call for submissions closes, all entered photos will be reviewed by an expert panel of jurors assembled for their expertise in photography, art, and curation. Winners will be announced on August 29, and an online gallery displaying all photos accepted into the show will be on view through September 30. Best in show and individual category winners will be prominently featured in the virtual gallery.
“Selby Gardens’ Annual Juried Photo Exhibition is a beloved celebration of our two bayfront sanctuaries through the eyes of our members and other visitors,” said Jennifer O. Rominiecki, president and CEO of Selby Gardens. “Since making this show fully virtual a few years ago, we have been able to display even more high-quality photography of our two campuses and enable more people to appreciate these beautiful works of art.”
The volunteer jury for the photo exhibition includes:
· Olivia Marie Braida-Chiusano, artist and head of Selby Gardens’ botanical illustration program
· Christopher Jones, Stanton B. and Nancy W. Kaplan Curator of Photography and Media Art at The Ringling
· Keith Monda, philanthropist
· John Pirman, artist and illustrator
· Cliff Roles, professional photographer
· Walter Gilbert, Selby Gardens vice president for diversity and inclusion and namesake of the Gilbert Mural Initiative public art project
