The Community Foundation of Sarasota County awarded Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) a generous grant to support the SPARCC Emergency Shelter.
The SPARCC Emergency Shelter serves as a safe haven for survivors and their children who have experienced the devastating effects of domestic and sexual violence. Additionally, it provides the opportunity to heal, create stability and explore opportunities that will ensure safety and a way to move forward.
In the 2019 – 2020 fiscal year, SPARCC offered a safe shelter to 183 adults, 98 children and 16 pets; provided advocacy services and crisis counseling services to 2,667 individuals; responded to more than 4,382 Helpline Crisis calls; and provided legal services for injunction for protection to 302 individuals.
“SPARCC provides emergency shelter for survivors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” said SPARCC President and CEO Jessica Hays. “The Community Foundation of Sarasota County grant is a big help in providing a safe and comfortable living space for the survivors we serve, and we are extremely grateful.”
Funding for the SPARCC Emergency Shelter provided by the Equity and Access Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
