Siesta Key Home Wins Five National Awards
March 1, 2024 – Sarasota
Nautilus Homes, the renowned luxury builder based in Sarasota, has clinched five prestigious awards from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in recognition of its exceptional work on “Island Breeze,” a 6,100-square-foot residence on Siesta Key that masterfully balances style, craftsmanship, sustainability, and low maintenance.
Nautilus Homes emerged triumphant, securing the coveted Best in American Living (BALA) Platinum Award for Best Custom Home priced over $2 million. Island Breeze’s cabana garnered additional acclaim, receiving another platinum award for Specialty Room/Project in a custom home priced over $2 million. The home also won a Gold Best Kitchen in a custom home priced over $2 million, and silver Best Single-Family Custom Home within the 6,000 to 8,000 square feet category for the NAHB Nationals Awards. In addition, the team was surprised to receive a fifth bonus award onsite the night of the awards for Best Room Overall.
Ryan Perrone, the co-founder and president of Nautilus Homes, expressed his excitement at the recognition, emphasizing the significance of the awards in a highly competitive market.
“Island Breeze’s accolades not only showcase Nautilus Homes’ commitment to excellence but also exemplify the company’s ability to resonate with today’s highly educated and discerning home buyers.” said Perrone. In 2022, Perrone earned the prestigious title of AIA Florida Builder of the Year and holds the designation of Florida Certified Master Builder, the highest accolade attainable in the state for general contractors.
According to Perrone, the home’s design draws inspiration from the Abaco Islands and fuses historical elegance with modern simplicity. The exterior features timeless craftsmanship with radius roof lines, cedar shake, hand-bent copper roofs, and Carolina brick. Inside, the grand living room boasts a soaring fireplace and hand-carved coral mantle, while the kitchen showcases sophistication with Calcutta gold marble countertops and custom cabinetry. The Zobrist Design Group served as the principal architectural firm for the project, collaborating with Jett Thompson Interiors, which provided its expertise for interior design.
Perrone emphasizes that the project revolves around environmental stewardship, stating, “This design and build represent the harmonious integration of upscale innovation and sustainability, reshaping luxury while honoring our planet. It serves as a model of conscientious architecture, inspiring an eco-conscious lifestyle that extends well beyond its physical boundaries.” The commitment to eco-friendliness is evident in the geothermal HVAC system, sustainably sourced cedar shake roof, spray foam insulation, and active participation in a community solar program.
“These elements come together to create a home that excels in performance, demands minimal maintenance, and boasts stunning aesthetics. From the serene light blue louvered shutters to the antique mirrors and brass lattice, each detail underscores a careful consideration of both design and functionality, and we are honored to have been selected to bring it to life.” Perrone said
The accolades were presented at the NAHB National Awards and Best in American Living Awards (BALA) during the International Builders’ Show held in Las Vegas on February 28 and 29. These national awards are known for spotlighting the pinnacle of creativity and talent in the building industry and honor professionals who redefine excellence for homes and communities across the United States and Canada.
