Selby House Cafe Launches New York Street Food-Inspired Menu

Looking to get outside and partake in Sarasota’s cultural scene while enjoying some great New York City-inspired street food?

Now there are some new dining options at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. The
refreshed Selby House Caf  by Michael’s On East menu coincides with–and
reflects–the opening of an immersive exhibit featuring Robert Mapplethorpe and Patti
Smith, called “Flowers, Poetry, and Light.” The exhibit is slated through June 26, 2022.
“For this menu, Michael’s On East Chef Jamil Pineda has curated a unique menu
offering to reflect the essence of both of these artists’ work and to capture the spirit of New York City street food,” said Phil Mancini, co-proprietor of Michael’s On East. “We’re very excited to continue to partner with Marie Selby Botanical Gardens as their
exclusive culinary partner and to contribute further to Sarasota culture and the arts,”
said Michael Klauber, co-proprietor of Michael’s On East.

Along with the unique caf  menu items that include healthy lunch options (including
vegetarian and gluten-free choices); wines; beers; coffees and freshly prepared baked
goods, the NYC-themed menu features Falafel Salad; Grilled Cheese with a Roasted
Tomato and Basil Bisque; a Chelsea Reuben on Rye and a New York-style “Everything”
Bagel.

At the same time, Michael’s On East has brought back its popular food truck to the
Marie Selby Botanical Garden grounds. The food truck offers Selby visitors additional
options for delicious, made-to-order meals, including upscale options such as a Jumbo Blue Crab and Maine Lobster Roll to classic Nathan’s Hot Dogs of New York City; Sliders; Falafel Wraps; Spinach and Artichoke Empanadas and more. Visitors can find the Michael’s On East Food Truck on the lawn by the Selby Caf , near the iconic Banyan Tree. Wrought iron tables and chairs by the food truck provide an irresistible and calming respite from discovering all that Selby Gardens has to offer.

Selby House Cafe is open from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily. The Michael’s On East Food Truck is open from 11:30 am-2:30 pm daily.
