SchenkelShultz Architecture is pleased to announce the addition of Roberto Gonzalez to the firm’s Sarasota office as architect and project manager. Gonzalez is a Registered Architect in Florida, LEED Accredited Professional, and a member of the AIA and NCARB professional organizations.

“We are thrilled to welcome Roberto to our team,” said Ken Dean, Partner in SchenkelShultz’s Sarasota office, which was established in 2008. “He is a talented architect, and his understanding of project design development, as well as his diverse experience, will be instrumental to the ongoing growth of our firm in the Sarasota market.”

With more than 20 years of experience, Gonzalez has lent his design expertise to transformative projects such as the renovation of the $22.5 million Booker High School Visual and Performance Arts Theater, which captures the character and tradition of the school’s rich history while elevating the production, technology, acoustics, systems, and function of the space. Gonzalez is also responsible for the design of El Toro Bravo Restaurant, the interior architectural design of The Reserve, which houses short-term rentals, a coffee shop, a bookstore, and a wine room, and the schematic design of My Warrior’s Place, a nonprofit dedicated to providing a place of healing for veterans and wounded warriors. Additionally, Gonzalez has worked on multiple mixed-use and sustainable projects throughout the Sarasota community.

In his new role, Gonzalez will serve as a key member of the design team and leverage his expertise to deliver the collaborative and relationship-driven client experience that has been a core principle of the SchenkelShultz philosophy since its inception.

Gonzalez is a skilled architect who graduated from Syracuse University and earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Miami. He serves as the Chair of the Historic Preservation Board in the City of Sarasota, volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Suncoast, and is a mentor. Gonzalez is a volunteer with Riverview High School ACE Mentor Program, which is designed to introduce students to the wide range of career opportunities in architecture, construction, engineering, and related areas of the building design and construction industry.
