The State College of Florida Foundation Board of Directors recently welcomed new director Laura Bassler Cota, co-owner of The Cota Group Insurance Company, who was officially elected on Thursday, Sept. 23. Cota is a longtime Manatee County resident, having lived in the area for more than four decades. “I love my community and want to give back and help others achieve success,” she said. Cota has long supported the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Luncheon, and the Cota Insurance Group has been proud to sponsor the Avenues to the Future event. Cota joined the ranks of the 15-member board whose other members include: President Dorothy Korszen’78 of the Farr Law Firm; Vice President Alix Morin; Treasurer Jodi Allen ‘86 of Seaside Bank; Secretary Cassandra Holmes, executive director of the SCF Foundation; and directors Jim Captain, Debi Cohoon, Kathleen Cucci ’88, Dom DiMaio, Michael Fuller, Dr. Kimberly Hatchel, TJ Kornett, Lois Lucek, SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld and Chris Romine ’82. The Foundation supports SCF by providing funding for scholarships, learning opportunities and capital improvements.
