Scene Together: Couples on their wedding days
July 2022
Becca Jennings + Stu Boyd
Married April 22, 2022
Becca Jennings and Stu Boyd both came to Sarasota from elsewhere in the States. Becca is from Philadelphia, PA where she earned her BFA from Moore College of Art & Design. Now, you may recognize her as the Director of Marketing for Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota. Stu, from Buffalo, Michigan, is currently the Supplier Quality Engineer for Sun Hydraulics Corp.
Both energetic and enthusiastic professionals, the couple met at a networking event hosted by the Young Professionals Group here in Sarasota. Stu, with his playful sense of humor, jokes that he heard “YPG” stood for “Young Pretty Girls,” and so he thought he’d check it out. The two hit it off, and the rest was history.
In September of 2019, the pair traveled to Philadelphia, PA. Becca was eager to show Stu around her old stomping grounds. Thanks to a video game from Stu’s childhood, Tony Hawk, Stu knew one thing about The City of Brotherly Love: it was home to Love Park and the famous Love Park Statue. He decided that’s where he would get down on one knee and pop the question, using Becca’s grandmother’s ring, given to him by Becca’s parents.
In April 2022, the couple wed at the Powel Crosley Estate. Becca wore the same necklace that her mother wore for her own wedding. The couple’s two corgis, Winston and Watson, served as ring bearers on the big day. Becca created little pillows that the dogs wore on their backs as they walked down the aisle with the rings tied to them.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed delicious hors devours, plated meals, and late-night bites by Milan Catering. To make their wedding cake truly one of a kind, the bride crafted two custom sculptures of their pups that were arranged to look like they were digging into the wedding cake frosting ahead of the guests. Becca plans to transform those sculptures into Christmas ornaments, so that every year when the Boyd family decorates their tree, they will be reminded of their magical day in April when they said, “I do.”
The couple dreamed of honeymooning in Europe, but due to the pandemic, those plans were put on hold. Instead, they decided on a “mini-moon” a little closer to home in one of the most European cities in the Nation: New Orleans. There, they enjoyed wonderful eats, abundant music, took a class at the New Orleans School of Cooking, and travelled down the mighty Mississippi on a jazz dinner cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez.

Cassie McElroy + Justin Sharp
Married January 8, 2022
Cassie McElroy and Justin Sharp attended the same high school, and even shared friend groups. Yet it wasn’t until later that they officially met, introduced by a mutual friend. Cassie says with a laugh, “Then he wouldn’t leave me alone!”
Eventually, the couple began going out and what started as a close friendship bloomed into a loving relationship. In November 2020, Justin took Cassie to the St. Pete Pier for her birthday and surprised her with a proposal, followed by brunch with both of their families.
In January 2022, surrounded by nature, friends, and family, the couple tied the knot at the Barn at Lone Oak Acres in Parrish. With the help of wedding planner Sashi Baez, the couple created much of the decor using DIY techniques. The result was breathtaking, with hanging lights twinkling throughout the venue and along the trees, with floating candles leading the wedding party down the aisle.
Once the couple finalized their vows, the reception began. “Music was really important to us,” notes Cassie. “Chris Craze was the DJ, and we had a genre/song picked out for every stage of the event. Getting all our guests to dance was our goal, and we did pretty well!”
After a long night of dancing, eating, drinking, and more dancing, the newlyweds enjoyed a honeymoon cruise to the Virgin Islands. For the next couple weeks, they enjoyed the sun and sea, and even had their own butler service.
The Sharps came home to their two pups, Kona and Winston, to revel in a lifetime of love and laughs. The next step of their adventure begins December 2022, when the couple will welcome their first baby.
