Sarasota Yacht Club’s Karen Harmon Earns Distinguished Club Executive Award

Sarasota Yacht Club is proud to announce that COO and General Manager Karen Harmon has earned the prestigious Distinguished Club Executive Award from BoardRoom magazine, in partnership with Forbes Travel Guide. Harmon is one of only 140 general managers globally to receive the distinction for leading her team in providing an excellent member experience.

“We congratulate Karen and commend her for this outstanding achievement,” said Sarasota Yacht Club Commodore Brian Will. “She leads by example and puts us all in a position to succeed.”

Since her arrival in 2018, Harmon has been instrumental in building the Club’s youth sailing program, expanding the marina and helping her team navigate its way around the pandemic. Under Harmon’s watch, Sarasota Yacht Club was among Florida’s first 100 establishments to receive the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association Seal of Commitment award for enhanced standards to ensure the safety of staff, members and guests. 

“It became clear that general managers were a key reason Distinguished Clubs were able to earn and sustain Distinguished Club status year after year,” said John Fornaro, Publisher and Co-Founder of BoardRoom magazine. “It was only natural for us to recognize and award those who were able to lead their respective teams in providing the highest levels of member experience.”
