The EMS World Magazine announced Sarasota Scene freelance writer Carol Brzozowski, recently won a national bronze AZBEE award for her reporting and writing of the magazine’s supplement publication ‘9/11: 20 Years Later’. The award comes from The American Society of Business Publication Editors. The supplement also won an ASBPE Mid-Atlantic Regional Silver Award.

The entry’s description indicates ‘The attacks of September 11, 2001 remain the worst terrorist attacks in U.S. history.’ For those in the emergency services, the scars run even deeper than for others. This special supplement honoring the 20th anniversary of the attacks of 9/11/01 surveys a wide range of fire and EMS leaders to discern what we’ve learned and improved; changes still required for greater safety and security within the U.S.; and the health toll still mounting for those who worked in the rubble.

“Interspersed are stark remembrances from responders and others from the New York City area who survived the day. With the benefit of 20 years’ perspective, this supplement summarizes the groundbreaking impact of a once-in-a-lifetime historical event, distills key issues for emergency responders, and provides a balanced look at the technical and emotional aspects of a complex national tragedy.”
