Sarasota Opera Announces First Celebration Guest Artists

On April 23, 2021 at 7:30 pm Sarasota Opera: A Celebration! will feature a look back at favorite moments from the past five years and highlight how the support of the Sarasota Opera Community has made those moments possible. The event will also showcase Celebration Guest Artists performing exclusively for you. We are excited to announce the first two guest artists today.

Mezzo-soprano Lisa Chavez appears this season as Dido in the Spring Festival production of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. She has been seen in many Sarasota Opera productions, most notably as Carmen, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, and Fenena in Nabucco. She has also appeared with New York City Opera, Opera San José, Shreveport Opera, and Knoxville Opera. Bass-baritone Stefano de Peppo will sing Gaudenzio in the Spring Festival production of Rossini’s Il signor Bruschino and performed the role of Uberto in the Winter Festival production of La serva padrona. Other notable appearances with Sarasota Opera include Dr. Bartolo in The Barber of Seville, Baron of Kelbar in Un giorno di regno, and Dr. Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore. He has also performed with Finnish National Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, LA Opera, Palm Beach Opera, and Washington National Opera, among others.
