Sarasota Concert Association Welcomes New Board President and Two New Members

The Sarasota Concert Association (SCA) has announced that Dr. Dale Anderson will succeed Joy McIntyre as the organization’s board president. McIntyre will remain on the SCA board as immediate past president. During its annual meeting on April 22, the board of the Sarasota Concert Association also welcomed Ann Stephenson-Moe and Paula Rothman as new members. 

Gail Berenson, chair of SCA’s nominating committee, describes McIntyre’s eight-year tenure as board president as nothing less than remarkable. 

“The Sarasota Concert Association has been very fortunate to have Joy at the helm,” she says. “Joy has steered our organization through an exciting period of growth, including our celebratory 75th anniversary season. Under Joy’s leadership, we’ve experienced eight years of great progress and success. We’re thrilled that she will remain on the board and continue to share her wise counsel.”

“I am a firm believer in the power of music to transcend barriers and unite listeners in an uplifting shared experience,” says McIntyre. “It has been a great privilege to work with the board to continue the mission of the Sarasota Concert Association, an organization with an illustrious 76-year history of bringing world-renowned orchestras and artists to Sarasota.”  

Berenson adds that the SCA board is honored to welcome Dr. Dale Anderson as its new board president. “Dale’s years of business expertise as a high-level executive in the healthcare industry will serve us well as we continue to grow our organization in the years ahead,” Berenson says. “We’re also delighted that Ann Stephenson Moe and Paula Rothman will lend their exceptional experience and talents to SCA. These outstanding individuals join a team of dedicated board members who are united in their commitment to SCA to remain a vital part of the cultural tapestry of the region.” 

Dr. Dale Anderson served as managing director at BDC Advisors in multispecialty group practice and hospital medical group management until his retirement in 2017. Prior to joining BDC Advisors, he was president of the OhioHealth Medical Specialty Foundation in Columbus, Ohio, where he assisted the $4.54 billion health system in developing the infrastructure for effective physician employment. Before transitioning out of clinical practice and into an executive role developing and managing large medical groups, Dr. Anderson practiced internal medicine with McFarland Clinic in Ames, Iowa. He received his medical degree at Northwestern University and his business degree at Iowa State University.

We look forward to resuming live, in-person performances as shared musical experiences are so important for connecting members of our community,” says Dr. Anderson.

Paula Rothman and her husband Alan permanently moved from the Philadelphia area to Sarasota in November 2020, after 12 years as a winter resident. She is a trained classical clarinetist who has performed throughout the Delaware Valley, and taught instrumental music in public schools in Tarrytown, New York, and Philadelphia. Rothman holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Temple University and has managed the Bux-Mont Chamber Orchestra. She has served on the boards of music organizations in the Philadelphia area, as well as locally, including Venice Musicale and Sarasota Jewish Chorale.

Ann Stephenson-Moe is a major musical force throughout the region as an organist, harpsichordist, conductor, and accompanist. Stephenson-Moe served as the organist-choirmaster at Church of the Redeemer in Sarasota from 1974 to 2020 and is now the church’s organist-choirmaster emeritus. She has performed recitals at St. Thomas Church in New York City, Trinity Church in Boston, and the American Cathedral in Paris. A graduate of Florida State University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science followed by a Master of History from Rollins College. Stephenson-Moe also has a Master of Sacred Music, summa cum laude, from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
