Launching its 78th season of presenting world-renowned orchestras, chamber ensembles and soloists, the Sarasota Concert Association brings a stunning array of internationally acclaimed artists to Sarasota and Venice this season.
A CHANTICLEER CHRISTMAS
The season opens November 29 with the Grammy Award-winning male vocal ensemble that has been hailed by The New Yorker as “the world’s reigning male chorus.” Chanticleer performs holiday favorites including Ave Maria by Franz Biebl, “Merry Christmas, Darling,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and more.
THE NATIONAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA OF UKRAINE
Under the direction of conductor Theodore Kuchar, the Orchestra performs on January 18 at the Venice Performing Arts Center. The program features Dvorak’s New World Symphony and Ukrainian violinist Vladyslava Luchenko performing Brahms’ Violin Concerto.
THE EMERSON STRING QUARTET
This Grammy Award-winning quartet performs Beethoven’s Quartet, Op. 59, no. 2 and other works by Haydn and Mendelssohn on January 30 at the Riverview Performing Arts Center as part of their farewell tour.
PIANIST AWADAGIN PRATT
Acclaimed for his musical insight and moving performances, pianist Awadagin Pratt performs a program of piano masterworks including Rachmaninoff and Liszt on February 15 at the Riverview Performing Arts Center.
CHICAGO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Music Director Riccardo Muti brings the world-renowned Chicago Symphony to Sarasota’s Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall on March 1, conducting the Orchestra in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 and Mussorgsky’s Pictures From an Exhibition.
ENGLISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The most recorded chamber orchestra in the world, the English Chamber Orchestra presents a program of Elgar, Mozart and Haydn, conducted by José Serebrier on March 12 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
BUFFALO PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
Music Director JoAnn Falletta leads the Grammy Award-winning Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7 and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto featuring violinist Sandy Cameron ON March 27 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
